PROCLAMATION
NATURAL DISASTER

WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Tennessee, Bill Lee, has issued a declaration of a State of Emergency in anticipation of severe winter weather, including the potential for snow accumulation, ice, freezing rain, and dangerously low temperatures; and

WHEREAS, information provided by the National Weather Service forecasts continued winter weather impacts in the Savannah area that may endanger residents and adversely affect travel, public utilities, and the delivery of essential services; and

WHEREAS, these weather conditions present the likelihood of hazardous driving conditions, electrical service interruptions, strain on emergency response capabilities, and increased danger to at-risk populations, including seniors, and individuals lacking adequate heating; and

NOW, THEREFORE, to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public, I, Bob Shutt, Mayor of the City of Savannah, Tennessee, hereby proclaim, in accordance with applicable state law and municipal ordinances and resolutions, that a State of Emergency is declared within the City of Savannah effective Sunday, January 25, 2026.

IT IS FURTHER DIRECTED that all applicable Emergency Operations Plans are hereby activated to ensure coordinated response efforts and to support recovery actions related to this emergency.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that a State of Emergency exists within the City of Savannah, and that all available municipal resources are authorized for use in responding to the needs and protection of the community.
